Is Zzoma reimbursed by third party private carriers and Medicare?
No. Healthcare insurers and Medicare are yet to assign it its own reimbursement code. For this reason, each reimbursement claim is an individual review.
Zzoma has been reimbursed by some third party private carriers under code E1399 or E0190 with diagnostic code G47.33. Due to Zzoma’s physical nature as a positioner there is no benefit category where it fits with coverage for Medicare patients.

The FDA clears devices and drugs based on safety and effectiveness. Zzoma was cleared as prescription only because Zzoma only treats positional sleep (only about 30% of apnea). Only the provider can know if the patient’s sleep apnea is positional or not; therefore, the FDA is protecting patients from self-diagnosing.
